| About me / us: | Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself! My name is Richard and I currently work for Anjali House based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This organisation supports more than 100 former street children and disadvantaged youth through education, healthcare and the arts. I came here just over a year ago, after I graduated from university. I chose to go abroad instead of looking for a regular job and started volunteering for Anjali House. Soon, my and my new colleagues teamed up with the Dutch foundation Friends of Anjali and we established the Young Adult Program, aimed at improving the future prospects of marginalised teenagers at Anjali House. Now, one year later, we are just about to launch a new project: Room for Potentials. This project serves to help our young adults acquire the necessary skills, tools and knwoledge to become an independent and succesful adult. |
| Why 1%MEMBER: | I believe strongly in the 1%-philosophy. If everyone just took a minute to stop their busy lives and think about the poverty and unhealthy situations that some people in this world live in, we can share responsibility together and work towards a better world, one step at the time. |

Dear Richard,
Devestating to hear how the floods affected the area. In the news one hears so much about Thailand, but your story about the local problems for the people you are working with in Siem Reap, makes it a lot more real to me. I hope you will manage to build it all up again there!
