Volunteers Close

Is there a need for volunteers for your project?

We can use the help of volunteers on giving education on epilepsy world wide! In Kenya you can volunteer under guidance of Youth on the Move, in the Netherlands under guidance of EVN (Epilepsie Vereniging Nederland).

In Kenya volunteers play a big role at the clinics in helping and assisting the staff from KAWE to offer medical attention to the patients. Currently the three clinics are running well, having a large number of patients going to seek for treatment on epilepsy. Volunteers are very welcome, as long as they are willing to stay a bit longer so that the time required to train them is useful to the staff at the clinics. Some of the responsibilities are taking medical history of patients, retrieving of files (data collection), issuing of drugs and booking of patients for next appointment at the clinics among other duties.

What we need from volunteers:
Dedication: you need to be ready to commit yourself
Flexibility: you need to be flexible, ready for anything because in some situation you need to improvise when things turn out differently than expected
Availability: you need to be ready to avail yourself at the clinics when they are running (Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday)
Honesty and reliability: the staff and patients need to be able to rely on you
Confidentiality: you need to keep personal information of patients confidential.

Youth on the Move has a room available nearby the training centre which can be offered for an affordable fee.

In what other ways people can contribute at the project? For example know how, expertise, skills, advice

People can contribute through offering equipment such as computers which we use in our cyber. These computers have to be replaced regularly due to the intensive use of it.
